BR Express Blue is a nice color, too bad it never stuck.

I agree, I like various blue liveries, I think the Caley 0-6-0 that is doing the rounds at the moment looks splendid.BR Express Blue is a nice color, too bad it never stuck.
I believe that the BR blue did not wear very well or showed the grime up too much, so, unfortunately, the BR green replaced it.
I wonder if I like blue because I was brought up on Thomas the Tank Engine books - could be!

Probably the same for me. I'm looking forward to seeing Tornado in Express Blue.Solario wrote:I wonder if I like blue because I was brought up on Thomas the Tank Engine books - could be!
Regarding the Merchant Navy, I should do my homework before saying things like that; but still that's only three out of... how many preserved locos that carried it?

A4, A3, A1, Merchant Navy, Princess, Duchess, King. That's it. Three out of six. Not too bad.Majormagna wrote:Probably the same for me. I'm looking forward to seeing Tornado in Express Blue.Solario wrote:I wonder if I like blue because I was brought up on Thomas the Tank Engine books - could be!

I was expecting more... 'Though it's interesting that half of those are LNER designed locos...

Having ridden on the footplate of the Scotsman at the age of 16 along with my boss Walter Bacon (Linesman) from Doncaster to Shaftholme Jct circa 1941, It should be kept in its original Colour for ever.

Agree with this too.LNER Fan 60008 wrote:BR Express Blue is a nice color, too bad it never stuck.
Yes! It's a great pity that they tried 2 really appealing colours for the high powered engines, and then decided to settle for that bloody grotty shade of green!blackout60800 wrote:Who's for an A4 in Br experimental purple then?

Ay up!
I recently borrowed the WLocos in detail" volume about the MNs. The blue really did suit 'em.
Mind you I always liked CanPac (35005 to those not in the know) in BR blue.
