Heres a Duggie Brown joke off The Comedians telly series circa 1972.

There was these two Barnsley lad's talking and one says to the other that he was gonna drive over ta the continent to take a closer look at this common market thing (it was 1972).

So the other lad says-
"Be careful driving over there on the continent because they drive on the RIGHT hand side of the road and it will be dangerous."
So the other lad says "No they don't"
So the other lad says "Yes they do"
So the other lad says "No they don't."

Anyway, a week goes past when the two lad's meet up again and one of the lad's says to the other-
"You was reet my old flower they do drive on the right hand side of the road and wots more it's ruddy dangerous it tis that!!."

So the other lad say "How did thee make that out?."

The first lad says "I tried driving from Rotherham to Barnsley on the right hand side of the road and your reet it's ruddy dangerous!!."

In similar vein, someone told me that Ireland was going to experiment with driving on the right. They're going to try it with lorries only on Fridays.
