Excellent nostalgia, thanks Neil.
Those photos of D9001 at Retford bring back some memories. The loco had only been in service for 3 months and still seems remarkably clean. I think we spotters were very keen on the shiny new machines until we realised what their full introduction was going to do to the Pacifics.
