Any of you Yorkshire fella's ever heard of a fella from Rotherham called Mac Spitalhouse by anychance?. Mac was was a fairly hard kinda of fella who stood about 6ft-3inches tall and to be honest was 'off his head' so you really didn't wanna get on the wrong side of him otherwise you'd get a smack!. He's probably in his late 50s by now (if he's still alive?)

Hi All

I've really enjoyed the reaction to the 'North Midlands' jibe. It wasn't a surprise as I know how strongly Yorkshiremen feel about being from the North.

The only surprise was when Trev called me a Southerner!!!

My Dad, born and brought up in Sheffield, confused me the other day with the following:-

Those kinds of descriptions are not confined to Yorkshire though. We used siling down for heavy rain in South Lincs as well.

Another Yorkshire word is thoil. If you can thoil summat, not only can you afford it but you can see that it's worth the cash.

BB we always used it in the negative. "He can't thoil brass" He can afford it but does not want to spend his money.
