Re: Hornby Gresley Full Brake
I glued the damned body the wrong way round on the chassis. This correction puts the pipe on the ducket side. It doesnt suprise me as this model was jinxed right from the start of construction with wafer-thin etchings that creased and burned easily, plus I managed to damage the roof. To cap it all the model rolled off the diaramma after taking the photos. I had ruined a perfectly good teak corridor third donor just because I was tempted by a full brake.Nothing directly under the Guard's door but what's that to the left sticking out from the solebar?
The surplus batterybox has proved impossible to remove this morning without damaging the chassis. Had Hornby not been doing a full brake I would have kept my model. But now I will have the pleasure of jumping on it (after removing the bogies).

Re: Hornby Gresley Full Brake
On looking at the images of the Hornby PBV, the colour looks darker than this company's traditional maroon and I am wondering if it is early 1950s carmine red (?) It is hard to make what the waist lining is like though. With carmine the lining would be a single yellow and black, (if applied) and double yellow with maroon livery. Mmmmmmm.

Don't jump on it, Larry - send it to me, I'll give it a good home....
Seriously, if you really don't want it, we'd be delighted to accept it for Pilmoor on behalf of the National Trust.

Embarrassed mode) I'll be keeping the bogies as they are rather precious to me. As for the body, I would have to replace a broken roof vent (caused when it fell off the diaramma). I'll keep an open mind for the present.we'd be delighted to accept it for Pilmoor on behalf of the National Trust.

There will be questions in the House over this...

245 and yes. Pipe on ducket side on model. I think there should be a dip which I admit I missed.Dave wrote:Mike,

The pics don't seem to show a vac pipe, I thought it was on the non ducket side.

Just got back from a lunchtime search at NRM ....low and behold there was a Hornby stand with the full brake and non vestibules on show (teak and maroon versions of the lot)....now I have seen them in the flesh 'amazing' you did a great job. When I get home I will post the rather crap pics I took ....light was very bad.

Thanks. Some of the photos are quite reasonable and others might appreciate seeing them here if you fancy posting them. At this rate I will probably be one of the last to see them in the flesh.Dave wrote:Mike
