What's Olton Hall doing at Shildon? I thought it was on Scarborough flyer duties

Thanks, tried to avoid the self portrait but wasn't able to. Will try and get more photos up tomorrow, plus some from Beamish.
Don't know why Hogwarts Castle was there, unfortunately few exhibits had any information or display boards. Was nice to see a celebrity loco though, as well as City of Truro in it's new livery

As much as I dislike BR livery, I quite like that! City of Truro is in post 1912 colours, numbered 3717 with black frames, and looks wonderful

I know this is a rather pure LNER forum, but CITY OF TRURO in BLACK with SMOKE DEFLECTORS is heresy

Ay up!
That's a convincing "fake" - the boiler casing gives it away!
However, the LNWR black does suit the engine's shape!

Ay up!
No, the whole livery is a photoshop fake. Look at the boiler casing which is still a dull green.
However, I stand by earlier comments - that looks good! Much though I believe that the LNWR livery is better than the piece of GWRness it adorns!
Settles back and awaits abuse.

Re: NRM Shildon 6/10/2011
Here it comes... She was painted black in 1985, for running in purposes, just like Scotsman (except 3440 actually works) and as previously stated by me, 3440 in ANYTHING but GWR green is heresy.Blink Bonny wrote:Ay up!

Ay up!
If you are referring to the Severn Valley incident, that was done on one side only as an April Fool. There were people destroying their membership cards about this incident!
It was a good 'un wasn't it?

Ay up!
I was wondering where "Sir Berkely" ended up.
Thanks, Mr L. Very nice indeed. I've always had a soft spot for the Ice Cream Cart...
