Very nice there Graeme! The one I have here is at a reasonably advanced stage, but getting there. Next task is valve gear, which will entail my taking a closer look at your previous entries in this thread....

Fun times....! ;)

If anyone's hesitating the show guide is available online (what a good idea) here.

I shall be behind Uppingham Stand 29, so please come and say hello if you do attend.

More fittings, and seen in daylight. Varnish definitely needed to reduce the "dull, mossy and slightly blue" hints on the cab and firebox......
Matching lining and numerals might help too. I'll change to late crest on the tender - I just need time.....

Surely somebody is going to Peterboro'? (see above)

Looking terrific Graeme. I wish I was going to Peterborough - had intended to - am struck down with the flu. Would have brought along 60500 for comparison.

Looking great. For some reason I seem to see a number of otherwise superbly build railway models at shows which are spoiled by insufficient effort spent blending seams and getting everything smooth. You don't have a background in plastic aircraft or tank modelling do you? Those guys never let a seam escape attention!

I also only now notice that yawning great gap between the front drivers and the bogie. Sure is a distinctive model.

I think the technique for hiding joints and other changes of surface contour, and blending in paint, has developed slowly as a consequence of a limited budget (or penny-piching attitude?) and a 26 year struggle to maintain the tidy appearance of my regularly used old car, in an awkward-to-match colour, without regular recourse to the expense of full or extensive re-sprays! Every time I get it looking anything like "lovely", it gets another knock or scratch, or rust appears, obliging me to attempt another "invisible" local repair.........

The very same model. So were you there after all, despite your previous doubts? If so, you should have spoken up - I'd have gladly shown you its ins & outs.

Finishing off a J3 Manna? A poor excuse for non-attendance at Peterboro' - surely it's a mere 22 hours flight each way for you.........

Just found a couple of annoying little things this evening: No "0's" left on my transfer sheet so I can't number the cabsides in time for the weekend, and I suspect that the cabside itself is in some way a little out of scale as it is quite impossible to put the numbers in a sufficiently high position once the lining is on, even with the lining as high up against the horizontal handrails knobs as it can go......

I was there on the Sunday. My previous plans for the weekend crashed and burned, so I thought why not. I thought the show was brilliant and came away with two blue circle wagons and I had A3 60043 Brown Jack set aside for Christmas (had to ask mum to take me as I'm not old enough to drive yet :?). It only dawned on me that it was the same model when I saw the smokebox number plate today on one of the pics! In the flesh (or plastic) it really is a stunning loco, I don't think pictures quite do it justice

I always seem to run short of Os from the HMRS sheets - although my stocks go back to the PC days! Another one I always run short of is the BRITISH RAILWAYS lettering in the larger size!
