Lets hope that the cliffs in the Azores that could collapse at any time, don't see that video and decide to copy it, otherwise it is goodbye Manhattan.

It's the Cumbre Vieja volcano in La Palma - if the western flank decides to slide/slump downhill, probably during an eruption, then the wave formed from this impact is estimated to be around 100m high - the whole American seaboard would be devastated. Bermuda and most of the smaller Caribbean islands would just cease to exist. Europe too would probably take some damage. The deathtoll would probably be in the tens of millions, possibly even hundreds depending on circumstances. As you say, let's hope...strang steel wrote:Lets hope that the cliffs in the Azores that could collapse at any time, don't see that video and decide to copy it, otherwise it is goodbye Manhattan.

Hornby, Bachmann and Graham Farish all work out of the same factory. These are hard times indeed

Re: Is this spectacular or what?
Back to the original thread, a mate sent me an address to look in a Spanish online newspaper about an undersea volcano in the Canaries that is expected to be above the waves sooner or later. I looked at the thread via google translator and found it interesting yet it has had no mention in the UK media.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
