+Never could get my head around the 1972 Local Government Act. To me, Middlesbrough is in Yorkshire. And the last time I was there it rained so hard even the ducks were complaining

Still, the sun must shine there sometimes, but not, it appears, when I'm about. Anyway glad you can accept the leg pulls!

Ay up!

PP, if you want rain then head for Manchester! Every single time I have visited this city it has p####d it down all day. However, at Bury on the times I visited there, it was usually fine.

So its true - there is a deep depression centred over Manchester!

Hi BB

Actually, it's Newport (South Wales) for me. Every time I've been there by car, we've had rain as soon as I get off the Severn Bridge. On the other hand, go by train and get lots of sun, although I do recall one train trip when it hissed down

Is it true that you have better chip shops up north?

Don't your chippies sell deep fried Mars bars & chips?

Us in the North are not quite that far North.
We prefer proper Fish and Chips from a chippy.

And the winner of the Chippy of the year in 2011 is in Bridlington.

I thinking of having a week up in BARNSLEY next year instead of the Costa Del Sol if the chippies have deep fried Mars bars on the menu

You have to go further north for that it seems to be a Scottish delicacy.

Yeah i believe you maybe right there 52D i believe that it did start in Scotland althought i thought that it worked it's way further south in to the north east of England?

Still the chippies down south and in London in general are nothing special

Ay up!

Sorry about this lads but the deep fried Mars Bar is a Yorkshire invention.

There's a chippy opposite Barnsley (sorry must say it reet - Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarnsley) High School where one of the kids persuaded the owner to dip a Mars Bar in batter and fry it.

There you go - the unhealthyest food in Britain is a Yorkshire invention. We've some way to go to match the Mississippi deep fried peanut butter sandwich...
