Re: LNER Models
Two low rez (yeah, my camera's not great) pics of Scotsman in it's current state, still with 4472 on the cabside until I buy those transfers and those pesky wheels still have specs of green on them
I'me gonna try and make a 'banjo dome' out of filler and sand it to shape and due to the A1 and A3 having different diagram boilers, that small dome is gonna have to go, I can't just 'cast' the banjo dome 'around it' becasue it will be way too far forward. It's gonna drive me crazy this thing but, for my fist sort of conversion it's not going too badly. Just wish the thing would run

Re: LNER Models
I have got rid of my tender drive versions. From memory are they pick up one side on loco other side on tender? Make sure the tender connection is working.
247 Developments sell a Banjo Dome casting which makes life much easier and decent nameplates/workplates

Re: LNER Models
I only have two tender drives left, Scotsman and 60017 Silver Fox, neither have ran in ages and I rember the loco to tender connection always used to be awful. The main aspect of the restoration is to have a static #502 with the possibility of running it. A3's just don't seem to fit in with my railway I had my Scotsman sat around in it's old tired out apple green livery and thought 'hey, i'll repaint it to look like the real thing'. Now it's ended up as a complete A1 to A3 conversion

G'Day Gents
Looking good Mick, love the Streets, lived in a terraced street very close to what you've built, although we did have a 6ft front garden !! I like the way you've not gone over the top with cars etc, our street had about 40 terraced house's each side of the road, and even in the late 50' early 60's did'nt have more than half a dozen cars in it, today it would be a single track through the middle of the parked cars.

Re: LNER Models
I used to live in a street in Saltaire before being exiled to the Midlands like those. Parking was a problem, especially seeing as we had a shared house on the end of the street who had 6 cars between 'em. Funny thing is, they were the biggest whingers about parking, until I pointed out that it was a bit of a bugger parking just one because of them. They shut up after that, to me at least!
If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!

Ay up!
Looking good, mick. How did you get the "teak" finish?
Looks better than wot I get from miniature "scrumbling" with acrylic paints.

Precision P996 Weathered Teak, P60 LNER Teak a few spots of Gloss yellow and matt Black in each panel. Dragged across using a brush the Teak Cream base colour P995 using thin coats horizontal for lower panels , vertical for other panels. You can blend the colours in with a small drop of thinners if needed on the brush.
It will then be sealed with a coat of gloss varnish to seal the paint prior to lining yellow and then all is sealed with satin varnish after lettering done .
