The A4, all being well will be heading the above train from Poole to Bristol on the 17 August. Passing through Wiltshire mid-morning. Apart from the stations such as Warminster, Westbury and Trowbridge can anyone recommend a country/rural photographic location somewhere in this area.
Many thanks in advance
NG.

Hi Neilgow
Although fairly local to me I've got to confess I've never had a session on the Wylie Valley, mainly due to the lack of freight. However the Wylie Valley is a very pleasant area and as is further on around Freshford.
I cannot post a link - don't know how to!! - but I suggest you enter Trainspots for Google search. Freshford is on there and several other spots. I find it quite a useful web-site.
Actually, while doing this one place does spring to mind which I've often seen from the car. At the south end of the Warminster by-pass - A36 - at Norton Bavant/Heytesbury as you go round the round-about towards Salisbury you will see a bridge over the line, just yards from the road. I'm afraid I'm not as familiar with that road as I was before it was improved so I can't help you re parking etc..
Hope this is of use to you. Please let me know how you get on and where - it may be useful for future ref!!

Oh well you cannot win them all, 70000 in black and un-named was the train engine, no sight nor sounds of 60019. Mind you, for a brief moment the chime whistle had me fooled.
The photograph is of 70000 northbound through Avoncliff Halt between Bradford on Avon and Bath. It was working hard and going very well.
Whilst a shot of the train is possible as it passes through the tree lined Halt, a much better open image can be had as the train heads away. For the return southbound journey the position is first class.
It should also be noted that the Kennet and Avon canal passes directly over the railway at this point, with a pub and a cafe in the vicinity it can be recommended as a place to visit. However a note of caution, most of the traffic are DMU's.
