A life afloat
Anyone else remember this little flotilla which toured our canals in olden times (early 1960s?) recruiting matelots or know if the boats still exist, please?
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!

Re: A life afloat
In August 1948 we had A4s that if allowed further North than Berwick would have made fairly good K Boat replicas.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
Re: A life afloat
Any chance that any are around now and we can test the theory?

Re: A life afloat
No Micky the K boats believe it or not were steam powered submarines build in the first world war, with funnels. 21 boats were ordered and were not a success. Several sank, one even at the dockside.

G'Day Gents
Naw ! K boats were steam powered submarines, I think, I would have felt safer on the explosive packed E boat after all the bad press the K boats got.

Re: A life afloat
ISTR the Battle of May Island was when K boats were on Manouvers with the fleet and a couple got sunk by accident, I will try to look up a bit more, I like these odd topics.
