Even though i should be shouting for a Z, I would like to have seen an NBR Atlantic. Preferably at St Boswells.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Had a look at the Bluebell Atlantic site, they seem to be doing quite well, parts still being delivered and being put together, can't see where it's stalled ???
I've been watching this for a while, it is a GN boiler after all

Was down there a few months ago - far from stalling, they are going from strength to strength. It really is starting to look like a locomotive under overhaul, not being built, when you see the frames complete with cylinder block, buffers, and the boiler behind. It will be a fantastic locomotive when finished, and quite honestly, who would begrudge a spare GNR boiler when we could potentially line up 251 and 32424 alongside each other?

Must have misunderstood it. Sorry!
I am happy to know it is going well. Wish I could go there to see the completed locomotive someday. Bet it will look great with a nice rake of coaches behind it.
Can't say the same about the LNER built 8F's boiler going to the GWR County project... Ick.

I thought about that, too. Better to put a proper boiler to use than just have it sit around forever.who would begrudge a spare GNR boiler when we could potentially line up 251 and 32424 alongside each other?

Regarding the Brighton Atlantic project, visited it today at Sheffield Park with the 70A lads on their reunion on the Bluebell. Everything going well, four blokes working on the engine when we dropped in, even the cab is beginning to take shape. One geezer was ruefully commenting on how much better a GN Atlantic must have been to fire compared to a Lord Nelson, which it seems were rather tricky
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!
