Repainted and single chimney fitted on a current Hornby Mallard body which had been dropped tied up with a NRM Scotsman tender and Loco chassis .

Thank you for the replies, I've since done a bit of digging and the photo I have found of Ssea Eagle (even though it is actually Golden Eagle which interests me for modelling purposes) appears to have only the bottom of the valance lined out. I bought the image from the RCTS website.. Anyone care to discusss this further?

I know it's been a few months since this request, but I have just joined. Yes I will confirm this. I noticed the single red line along bottom of the valence only on the locos with the fully black smoke boxes, while the red line surround of the "airfoil" was on Golden Eagle and Osprey, the two with the curved parabola front treatment. I built a Pro Scale brass A4 many years ago and have as yet to paint it. yes, Green it will be, but in which version...?

Someone with better art skills than me should bring out an illustrated treatise on the A4 paint schemes im sure it would be a winner.

I am pleased to report that since my last posting here, I have had the painter mentioned in the last post, do 4 original 3 rail Hornby Dublo locos for me in the shades representing 1937, 1938, 1949 and 1952.
All were Sea Eagle or Walter K Wigham.
When I get a chance I will post photos.

the 1949 one, is it in BR express blue or experimental purple? The reason I ask is RM dec2010 editorial had a touched up photo of Wigwam in a very purple shade of purple!

Hi Jim,
Sorrry I did not notice your question from last year. No, the 1949 version is in the early BR blue.
However, I am familiar with Wigwam in its purple guise, as I purchased a 2 rail Hornby in that colour. The box shows erroneously "Sir Walter Wigham", when of course the name is "Walter K Wigham" on the engine.
I have no plans immediately for doing the other 4 on the Hornby Dublo - (2 x wartime black, 1 x post war garter blue, 1 x early BR purple), 'cause I got sidetracked in doing a couple of HD N2 engines.
Sometime maybe. And I think I would do only one of the black anyway.

I guess my drawing of Sea Eagle needn't pop up. I forgot to line her valances anyway
