It was only a few days ago that Ollie Cromwell raced past on the way up to Norwich on a special to celebrate either the first or last working on the EAML by a Britannia class loco - reported on BBC Look East that evening but I cannot find it on the web at the moment.
Anyway, she's just gone past again today on The Easterling and within the space of a week to ten days has been repainted in black with original BR crest and numbered 70000. The rain was too heavy to read the nameplate, which is also the reason why I didn't bother going across with the camera as the rain would be driving straight onto the lens.
A quick websearch reveals nothing - anyone know the story behind the paint job?
70013 turns black and becomes 70000!

I think you'll find that it was 70000 Britannia that you saw!65447 wrote:It was only a few days ago that Ollie Cromwell raced past on the way up to Norwich on a special to celebrate either the first or last working on the EAML by a Britannia class loco - reported on BBC Look East that evening but I cannot find it on the web at the moment.

In which case I was totally confused by The Easterling as it clearly shows and states 70013...

According to UK Steam Info, 70000 replaced 70013 and the tour ran to Great yarmouth instead of Lowestoft.

I have heard that 70013 has firebox problems.

Obviously this is a source of information that I need to get hooked into, but just to make it clear that the 'tour' was due to go to Great Yarmouth anyway - the first organised appearance of a 'Brit' there for a number of years - the details were on the web page but that's now been removed.60041 wrote:According to UK Steam Info, 70000 replaced 70013 and the tour ran to Great yarmouth instead of Lowestoft.
I feel sorry for the poor folks who spent their 'break time' at Yarmouth avoiding downpours interspersed by cloudbursts; never mind, second prize was a fortnight. And presumably the Latitude Festival just down the way at Henham is now the new Glastonbury.
