Good to see a tradition being upheld. But that photo, saddening when you think of what used to be. Nostalgia hits hard sometimes.

"It's part of our policy of bringing back train names and restoring pride, passion and even a touch of glamour and romance back to the East Coast railway."

Rode the Flying Scotsman On Tuesday morning from Newcastle. No more that 20 people in our coach. By the time we past Durham the Carriage cleaner cam round and removed all the seat reservation tickets. Don't think I've ever been through York without stopping before. Made me wonder why they don't route it via the frieght avoiding lines to avoid the station. Would probably be quicker as they have to go slow through the station.

Call it what you like but to me "The Scotchman, Flying Scotchman, Scotch Express and Flying Scotsman" all made similltaneous departures at Ten O'clock from Waverley and Kings Cross. It should have a new name.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Looks like best speed through the station is 30mph.
But the goods lines aren't too good either. Between Holgate Jn. and Skelton Jn., they're generally 35mph-30mph (Up) and 30-20 (Down): Fastest points connections to/from at Holgate are 35 ; Those at Skelton Bridge Jn. from/to the Fast lines are 30.
