The following was posted on the LNER Yahoo group and I thought would be of interest to the membership here:
"For those not involved watching the afternoon's FA Cup Final, here's four 1930's images from the camera of the late Alan Whitehead which I'd love to get more information on.
Firstly here are two shots of GER 0-4-4T No 8105, which I believe may be operating on the Saffron Waldon branch. Can anyone confirm that, and in particular confirm the station in which the loco is standing in the first image:

The next picture is of a 'Crystal Palace' 2-4-2T No 8310 which is thought to be on a Seven Sisters - Palace Gates train. Not a lot to go on, but can anyone say where this image was made please?

Finally, this is believed to be a Great Eastern station; no idea where, but does anyone know?

Any assistance gratefully received.
Regards,
John."

Re: Photo identification help
The station has been identified as probably Widford on the Buntingford branch.

G'day Gents
I'll second that, I've just looked it up on "Disused Stations" there's a pretty good picture of the platform + buildings.

Re: Photo identification help
The first G4 photo has now been identified as Maldon East (http://www.53amodels.karoo.net/temp/810 ... D-1932.jpg) and the second is suggested as Maldon West (http://www.53amodels.karoo.net/temp/810 ... D-1932.jpg).
Any takers/dissenters?

Re: Photo identification help
Maldon West is a fair bet - the picture of Maldon East shows the G4 standing at the bay platform, which I seem to recall reading was used for services to Woodham Ferrers - and the same G4 is featured in the second photograph. The track layout and cutting are as I remember ( but beware, I last saw it in about 1958 ! ) except that the signal had gone. Photo taken from the northern end of the down platform looking towards Maldon East.
