This is a photo I took today and although I was glad the see 65033 under cover and safe from mother natures grasp she was a sorry sight to see although i'm sure with the right funding anything is possible. I talked to a chap who was heavily involved with the restoration and he seemed hopeful for 2014. He also mentioned that 65033 had a boiler swap with another J21 whilst at Darlington awaiting the decision about the national collection. Does anyone have knowlege of the sneaky late in the day swap,

Last news on the LCLT website is of it being at Shildon, and didn't see any sign of it when I was there in January...

Well the site itself isn't working too well, but according to a post on the National Preservation site 65033, as well as the NER '901' class 2-4-0 910 will be at Kirkby Stephen East this year for the 150th;

As will 78019 and something attached to the front end of it called a snowplough is also booked to appear. It might even be mine. Number 18 if its ready.

I'm one of the volunteers with the Stainmore Railway Company and the web master for the 'Stainmore 150' web site.
I have not got a firm date to publish yet for the move of the locomotives from Shildon yet but before we book the low loader we need to have got the new Darlington platform extension complete and some track panels into the newly excavated former 'Tebay' platform. The work is going well and I would guess maybe 4-6 weeks before the locomotives are moved to Kirkby Stephen. But that is a guess at the moment. No.910 is likely to be the first as it will be on a five year rolling loan to Kirkby Stephen East and be housed as one of our static exhibits.
Motive power for the '150' Weekend from 27-30 August will include 78019 which was initially allocated to Kirkby Stephen shed from new.
The celebration website at http://www.stainmore150.co.uk is updated regularly with programme information and additional historical material. I am also putting up a daily 'blog' with information about preparations and as soon as we have a date for the locomotives arriving I will add it there. You can find it at http://stainmore150.blogspot.com

I think we should just have a whip round full stop. The charity trying to get funding for this loco has already lost out on one lottery grant and the J21 is just standing there doing nothing but show it's rust! Steam Railway mag should have backed this loco as it's been totally forgotten about. If there was ever a chance of this running on the Tanfield with a rake of coal hoppers it would be complete! hmmm might need an N10 to bank it up to Andrews House though! Saying that there's probably more chance of an N10 being built than the J21 running anytime soon.

EDIT: and to clarify, its current state is due to being used as a storage tank for many years, hence its preservation.
EDIT 2: And I might add, the J21's tender is clearly seen, in polished black paint in the photograph in the first post on this page...!

But if they've 'owned' the Stirling tender for 40 years you think they could have looked after that one a bit better ! but on the bright side, at least now the Stirling single will have it's correct tender, for the first time in a 105 years ???????

It's uncovered a wonderful thing that tender - when they were cleaning the grime off a few months back, they found a layer of authentic GNR paint, complete with letters - samples of which I assume can be analyzed for the makeup of the paint?
The eventual plan is for no.1 to finally be a completely authentic locomotive. Now the question is - what to do with the tender that is left?
