Ita actually an asymetrical Goliath with a traversible jib. The name Goliath means it runs on two legs, a semi Goliath would run on one leg and an elevated end carriage this rus on two different sized legs. Hope this clears things up.

I'm sure the Sunderland one had four legs and a terrifying appearance to a small kid, as I was then.

Thats quite common for the four legs to be connected in pairs onto end carriges. Im partly responsible for several large cranes of this type here in the UK and the Middle East. I was wondering if the Tynemouth one was a Morris crane.
