Re: welwyn garden city signal box mid 1960s
I was also a 'telegraph lad' at Welwyn Garden City straight from school age 15 in the summer of 1972 until early 1974 when the 'lads job' was abolished.
The s/box was closed in September 1976 as part of the Kings Cross-Sandy re-signalling scheme and was shortly thereafter demolished.
I took a couple of b/w kodak photos (without a flash) inside the box at the end of the 'evening peak' one hot and sunny week day evening at about 8:pm back in the summer of 1972 or 73 and (at the moment) they are unfortunately lost but if i find them i will post them.
Happy days indeed...
