K1 tender plate

Post by loco506 »

I have what I believed to be a Peppercorn K1 tender plate. It is marked No. 62021 and 1948. No other details. Records say that the K1's were built between 1949 and 1950, so would any plate have been produced beforehand or is it not a tender plate after all?

Tenders were number in separate series to locos, so they would not have carried the same number as the number of the loco they ran with.

Doesn't seem to be a tender plate as the tender number series for the K1s was 3901-70.

Bill, that is the same as in my own region (ie. SR). Are they are records of LNER or BR (as it states 1948)tender series?

Hello loco506.
It's been a few years now, but I have the smokebox numberplate from K1 62021, and was wondering whether you still have your 62021 - 1948 plate and whether it is for sale?
