If ekm cannot supply I may have some of those spare, but bear in mind that they are somewhat large for W1 trailing wheels, that's why I didn't use them and messed about customising smaller wheels.

Well I never realised that the W1 had 3ft 2in rear truck wheels!! I always just presumed they were 3ft 8in as the A1 etc and never checked !! I will re wheel my W1 !! who knows it might now go around curves better!!
I have a EKM list which shows Brittania flangeless wheels which i believe are are smaller ? than the A1 version I might try them too.

By no means finished yet, but I thought I'd drop a few pics of my monstrosity to further emphasize the point - these railroad chassis are really good for bashing projects...

I tried your PVA glue rivet method on the valances, incidentally. Not as fine as yours - but I'm happy enough with them for the moment, will be trying that method again on another project

I had a similar response on RMweb last night!!!

I'm taking part in a competition amongst some friends, and we're just having a bit fun, making "never was" or in my case "never could have been" although I've taken the bogie design from the 4-8-4 locomotive the LNER debated about building, the sloping smokebox from the P2s, the valances from the W1/A4, and the front end look from a French 4-6-4 compound.

I wanted it to look "unique". I think I may have achieved that!

It's been fun seeing the reactions, mind. It's just a bit of fun at the end of the day. Sean's building a streamlined Bulleid Tank Engine, Gav's building a "Fury", and this is my entrant (Gresley W2...).

I wonder Simon, as miniature shed-master for Copley Hill, you don't happen to have accurate mid 20th century track plans to a large-ish scale, stretching as far as Leeds Central do you?

I can take a look - give me a few days to get the file with my Leeds stuff out, and I'll see. I know I definitely have the plans for the Wortley Triangle, and the bit beyond it heading towards Leeds Central, not sure I actually have Leeds Central.

In Railways Memories No. 3 (Peter Rose, Bellcode Books) there are two aerial photos of Leeds Central and Holbeck which were taken in 1960 by British Railways prior to the combination of Central and City Stations. There is also a track diagram of Leeds Central, but not to scale. Perhaps the whole series of photos are available somewhere.

Hi Graeme, try on here http://www.old-maps.co.uk/maps.html If you move the pointer to the bit of the country that you want you can get maps from all sorts of dates and zoom right in to them
