Went to the North Norfolk Railway this week, great little line. Noticed the J21 in a siding, thought some might be interested in a picture of her (I thought her boiler work had already been done?)

I look forward to the day when 65033 steams again - hopefully on the NYMR.

The sheds were closed off from what I could tell with the B12 in the car park looking rough, haven't heard anything about the Y7

Update on the LNER Locos at the NNR as at 25/10/2006:

J15 - Operational.
N7 - Operational.
B12 - not as "rough" as it appears - it is due back on its wheels in early November - when withdrawn for 3 months of bottom end work last October was found found to be in worse mechanical condition expected so much more work was required. Expected back in traffic for the New Year. Will appear in early 1950s unlined black (tender already repainted) for the last year or so of its current boiler ticket.
Y7 - Dismantled for boiler repairs - work assessed, awaiting agreement to proceed.
J21 - as per picture is exactly as delivered from the Flour Mill. Needs new boiler and considerable mechanical repairs. Work will commence once necessary funds have been raised.

Shed tours are often available at lunch times and by prior arrangement with the shed staff.

Cheers for that - do you know how long it will be before the Y7 appears again? Also, do you know what colours the Y7 and J21 will wear when completed?

I have two small boys (to say nothing of their father!) who would be very interested in a shed tour!

I did understand that the J21 needs a new boiler.

At least I managed to convert the pair of them into J15 enthusiasts, on our last visit.

Funnily enough, the last GER locomotive that I ever saw in steam, on BR, was the very J15 that now graces the NNR, and the only footplate ride I ever had, as a boy, was on an N7.

A friend cycled 120 miles to photograph the very E4 that is now preserved.

But I do wish the "Claud" that had been marked for preservation was still with us.

No date set yet for either the J21 or the Y7. Both are subject to funding being available. In the Y7's case from its owners - the NNR is awaiting the funds and go ahead for the necessary boiler repairs. For the J21 it's more complicated as the funding has to be provided by/through Beamish, and a new boiler isn't going to be cheap. Expect to see details of this fund raising to hit the railway press next year.

As for liveries - I don't know about the Y7, it's up to the owners. I understand that the agreement with Steam Railway Mag./Beamish is that the J21 will initially be turned out in BR livery. However, until the necessary funds are available for either of these locos the colour scheme/livery question is academic.

The attached photo shows what the end result should be when the J21 is paired with our J15.

Cheers for the update - fantastic photo too, it's odd that BR colours actually do suit quite a few LNER locos! Do you know who owns the Y7? Lovely little shunter, although don't know if it would be of much use at the NNR

norfolkman will know more, but i believe she is privatly preserved, she'd be a good lil loco for short shuttles but thats about it.

not LNER but i may have to go get some pics of Wissingtion if i can, i'll need to take a train on the Mid-Norfolk to get there though

The Y7 is privately owned, but I don't who the owners are. As well as working at Galas etc on the NNR I would expect the Y7 to visit other lines when the NNR has no work for it. I look forward to it hauling our newly restored LNER BY 4-wheel and the Wisbech and Upwell Tramcar when it's finished.
