Keith also asks if anyone has experiences of the A1s or pictures of them at work, can contact him.I work as image curator for the Trust, taking in photos of not only
the building of 'Tornado', but also of historic A1s from the first 49,
so regretably all scrapped in 1966. Tornado is expected to steam first
in 2007, and then go for tests up to 60mph on the Great Central
Railway Leicester - Loughborough, before going onto the main East
Coast line for testing up to 90 mph. It's been a landmark year for the
Trust, with the boiler order being placed, and its manufacture
started. The meetings of members of the Trust this year have been
packed out, and there's an enormous shift in the items discussed from
'what has been machined and bolted onto what' to 'which stations
should it visit first on the ECML', and other operational matters.
I'm not going to post Keith's email in public, but if people email me, I can give you his email, or forward your emails.
