Bachamnn J39 Stepped tender version. Body mould lines removed ,resprayed,re lettered and light weathering. Photo of loco from Ripon in 1936 used for reference. Extra lubricator added and wheel and handle added to smokebox.

A update on my layout

I have just built a new Wills kit Engine Shed replacing the single Skaledale single road shed. I added some new sidings and a new coal stage.

I'm sure I read somewhere Mick, you renumber by using T-CUT and NOT surgical spirt, I've used surgical spirit which on some locos works ok, others not so good.

Decided to have another a go at renumbering instead of sending locos to a certain company to be done, could you talk me through how you do yours?

On Hornby as per above two in the Engine Shed I used T Cut and a wooden cocktail stick . Rub gently, it will take a little while, then you will see the lettering gradually disapear. You will now have a nice shiny surface , I then use HMRS lettering and seal with two light coats of satin aerosol varnish. Try on a scrap body first to practise. NEVER use surgical sprit it will change paint colour as I found out.
I have never renumbered a Bachmann Loco so I do not know if it will work. I have repainted a J39 which was rubbed down with wet and dry paper . The lettering appeared to be very weak and came off very easily

Current project a upgrade on a very basic and old DJH LNER D20. If you see brass/plastikard its a added detail compared with the original kit. I am happy with the chassis and bogie hence the paint is the original build from about 20 years ago. majority of Loco body is finished I have to make a new cab area next.

I am replacing the DJH tender in due course with a Alexander Models version much better detailed etc

Layout is looking great, I especially like the shots of the engine shed and the lighting sets it off well. Is the lighting LED or grain of wheat bulbs?
