Hello All
I was looking at a clip on Youtube recently http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GdUJwLTMJQ for the National Railway Museum Locomotion "Giants of Steam" gala and there's a "working model" of Flamboyant in it. Can anyone tell me what's the story on this engine? Is this a mock-up or a conversion of another loco to resemble 60153?
I'm over in Canada so it's not easy for me to pop in and see for myself.
Thanks
Frank
What's this about Flamboyant?

Hi Frank,
Can see why you're confused! It's a scale model which the camera man has filmed very cleverly to look in scale with the rest of the steam exhibits. You can tell it's a model by looking carefully at the tinplate brakevan behind it!
No such luck for another A3 in preservation - looking at Back Track's latest issue, and how good Humorist looked in 1962, I do wonder why another was not saved, particularly that unique A3 or even the record breaker, Papyrus.

Re: What's this about Flamboyant?
After 80 views and no replies I thought I'd asked something abysmally stupid and nobody wanted to set me straight!! By coincidence, for some reason I'd also gone to the Tornado A1 site and, on finding Flamboyant in the list of all locos, I clicked on it and up came a page with a caption "coming soon". WOW, now I'm really interested!! Fortunately I clicked on another name and it too was "coming soon".
Must say. that model had enough wear and tear and such excellent weathering that it took me in completely!
Thanks for solving this for me.

A bit late to the party as usual. I suspect that Flamboyant is a 5inch gauge model, which is about a 1/12th scale.
