Hi to all Gresley fans
How about naming the new P2:
Duke of Rothesay
the Prince of Wales's Scottish title

How about perpetuating the aircraft theme and also by inference the meteorogical theme:-

So... Tornado..... Typhoon...... Tempest...... Whirlwind.....

perhaps.....

Worrying about what name the loco will carry does seem just a touch premature.....

However keeping it light....

There is a healthy tradition of re-using loco names - after all 2001 inherited its name from 9903, so why shouldn't 2007 be Cock O' The North? A fine, romantic name that gets my vote!

Remove the "F" from Flying Scotsman and you're halfway there

Still convinced by Lady of Lochleven, although a friend of mine suggested that finding the name of an aircraft that has been in operation in Scotland might be a decent idea. Do we know of any?

Simierski: The Nimrods have a Scottish flavour, but that might in Elgar being played at every event. Although I guess you could say the P2s were a "variation on a theme", and to many, they were also an enigma!!?

That's an inspired idea Richard - "Nimrod". I do like that! :)

Elgar's not too bad - Tornado got Purcell's trumpet tune in D for her naming 8)

I suppose it's to much to ask for the P2 to be named after someone who would be held in high regard by L.N.E.R. enthusiasts worlwide?. DRIVER BILL HOOLE (of Kings Cross). Micky
