Darlington Saltburn branch
There seems to be little mention of this area, the few photos that I have are very poor Gratispool prints the negative was as per photo - not celuloid as per Kodak, Ilford etc. So lets see if we can reach Saltburn, there must be more photos of this line about .

52A will be drooling at that pic he likes the class. I wonder why they bothered with L1s when they already had these beasties.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
Re: Darlington Saltburn branch
I've cabed the L1's afew times, especialy if the brother in law was driving, the Saltburn Redcar bit was regular, even done the same trips in Thornabys V2's on the morning "Tees Thames Express".

Mr B .. Less fuss by bus !
Re: Darlington Saltburn branch
Yes indeed, they were lovely engines to work on easy to fire and excellent ride. They had one drawback, no exhaust injector.52D wrote:52A will be drooling at that pic he likes the class. I wonder why they bothered with L1s when they already had these beasties.

Q6 sunting at Redcar, full of history this photo, the steelwork being errected is the new United Automobile bus garage, the houses behind and the goods shed (left above box van) have all since been demolished to make way for Regents walk shopping centre, also the Q6 has been cut up !
