Gresley D115 Third Corridor

Post by gdb »

Might anyone be able to provide a reference or pointer to a broadside photo of a D115 Third? I am building a JLTRT kit and I would like to check on the placement of the roof vents. The instructions with the kit suggest two vents per toilet compartment with a water tank filler at the same location as one of the vents - might anyone have a photograph of the roof of a Gresley coach where the arrangement of the tank fillers is visible?

Thank you, Graham

Hi Graham

The LNER Coach association based on the NYMR, own 3 (or are assciated with) of these carriages, one of which is stored and sheeted over, one has been converted to a RF (so may have been altered), the third is currently stored at Carnforth, but is due to move to the NYMR very soon, if you are willing to wait a month or two, I will take some pictures when it arrives. If not try searching on the web for 23956.

I would be very interested in your opinion of the kit, as I quite fancy a rake of these myself and would be most interested to hear how they compare to Ian kirk, Kemilway etc.

Cheers
