That's a most interesting clip. I often wondered what it was like to see it operating. Not too good for anyone who suffers from mal de mer, though.

I seem to recollect that the locos were built by Hunslet. Were there two fireboxes? It looks like it, so the driver would have to fire also.

Same thoughts as i had regarding the firebox(es). The clip is amazing especially the lifting bridge driven by a simple pulley arrangement not unlike a chain block.

From memory, I think Hunslet built the locomotives.

Many years ago, I heard a couple of tales about the Lartigue. A major operating problem was ensuring that the train was balanced, so that when two rather stout women wished to travel, they were (tactfully?) asked to sit on opposite sides. In another instance, when a farmer wanted to send a cow, the solution was to send a pair of calves as balance on the outward journey, then return them one on either side, so that stability was maintained.

If I were ever to visit Ireland, I would want to have a trip on it.

It could only have happened in County Kerry couldn't it?

The locos were Hunslet 0-3-0s.
