Hello all,
I'm new here and have only just found this forum and thought what better place to ask for some pointers on where to find information on and about Potter Heigham which is somewhere close to home of which I'd like to model.
My home village has always interested me and I would like to find a little bit more out about the railway, unfortunately in my time I remember very little about the railway and there is very little, if any remaining of it. I have began to build up my library of M&GN books containing information about the railway and I would Ideally like to model it somewhere between the 30's till it was closed. I have few pictures of the actual location, I would say somewhere around 20 which include good shots of the old girder bridge and camp halt (including 1 or 2 of the Railcar "Tanvity") to pictures of the station. I believe the station was very closely related to the former Catfield station which is now preserved on the North Norfolk Railway, and if so I have accurate CAD Drawings to create a decent model of it. Also Nearby there is a similar Structured Signal Box preserved at Barton House railway in Wroxham. However Apart from these buildings I don't really have as much information as I would like to, to give the model ago, I also have no shots of the goods yard (1/2 sidings located behind the station.)
I have Shots to show that D16/3's were a regular sighting as were the 4mts, and also a shot of a J17 on a Holiday camp Special in the latter years of the railways, however my downside being I am not to great at identifying Coaches from pictures and not knowing to much about the LNER the formations these were normally seen in.
I would be most appreciative if someone could point me in the right direction for some information on the area, or especially what ran or may have ran through Potter.
Thanks in advance,
Regards,
Josh

Josh, you don't say what period you're interested in but for details of the traffic and locomotives which would have worked through the area you could do worse than the District Controller's View No. 12, the M & GN, from Xpress Publishing. (ISBN 978-1-901056-37-2). It gives train times, loco workings, diagrams and loco allocations for the whole M & GN system and should show you what the traffic was and what locos were working it.
In terms of photographs I don't have a great deal on the M & GN specifically. There is a new book on it which came out laste last year which might be worth a look.

Welcome to the forums. It sounds like you've found the North Norfolk and the Marriott Museum.
"not my area" etc, etc, but the MGN has always struck me as an interesting system. I think it is a good choice to model although you're going to be working with a lot of kits and scratch building. Personally I don't think we see enough models with ochre locos, so that would be my choice for era - even if it doesn't quite overlay with Tantivy's period! Of course it is your railway and you can do what you want. Later on you'll get more LNER types and BR types which might interest you more (and be easier to obtain).

You can use this which shows an aireal view of norfolk.
http://www.historic-maps.norfolk.gov.uk ... D=10&NJS=0
If the link doesnt work then this.
http://www.historic-maps.norfolk.gov.uk ... .asp?PID=4
And find PH on the map, its not a goo pic but it puts it in perspective.
If you go to The whitwell and reepham station they have tonnes of railway books there, Alot of nofolk books helped me understand things.
