I take it you mean the proposed new council offices for York?

JP,

There are a few pictures of the old York station in Rail Centres: York, ISBN 0 7110 1320 9 by Ken Hoole.

Better is the NERA book ' A History of North Eastern Architecture Vol 1 The Pioneers by Bill Fawcett. This is obtainable from the North Eastern Railway Associatioin ISBN 1 873 513 34 8. A whole chapter of 12 pages is devoted to G T Andrews work on the old station.

What period do you propose to model?

Don't know, I thought the whole site was part of the Network rail offices.

I have seen the Ken Hoole book and it's on my e-bay list, Does the NERA book contain any plans/drawings?

Oh err, looks a bit uncomfortable, about 1987 the concept being the station remained open as a parcels deport  Well at least the architecture will be NE.

Thanks for the replies J.P.

York Council are planning to take over the former West Offices building around the former train shed.
There is also a plan to build a Hotel fronting Toft Green in the gap between West Offices and Hudson House. Currently occupied by the former photographic section building.

With regard to a plan of the building.
There was a booklet published by the Friends of the NRM by Patrick Howatt and Bill Fawcett
"The North Eastern Railways Two Palaces of Buisness" 1906 - 2006
While mainly about the Head Office building there are details about the Station with plans and some photos included. very well detailed.
It would be worth a look if you can find a copy.

The following article might be of assistance concerning York Old Goods:

Railway Modeller, November 1992, pp514-517
'Planning Considerations' by Neil Rushby

It includes one rather nice view of the whole station area with plenty of stock visible, various pics of the site after track lifting, a trackplan based on part of the parcels depot, and a 2mm:1ft scale drawing of the main parcels warehouse

James

If York Council get their way they plan to basically trash the old station. The highly visible block nearest the city walls would be raised in height and the space currently occupied by the platforms would be entirely filled by a modern "glass box" to the full height, with the platform canopies moved outside. One writer in the York Press described it as looking like a "glorified bus shelter". The new hotel presents a ghastly roofline of metal spikes.
