Steam at Rickmansworth in the 1950s

Please can anyone help me find out what type of steam engines were used at Rickmansworth from the 1950s until the line was electrified?

You seem to have waited a long time for a reply!
Back track of some years ago had some info on the Chasham branch which is relavant.
My recollection is roughly thus:
After the London Transport H class went, there was only occasional use of LT's own locos at times of shortage.
Generally, by the 50s, LNER types were used.
These incl L1, N7, A5, C13 on local trains, until replaced by LMS-design 2-6-4Ts (eg, Fairburn) and, later, by Standard 2-6-4Ts.
Mainline trains inc B1, B17, A3 and many other classes.
Marylebone was variously Easterm Western and LM region, so almost anything might turn up. I have seen a picture of a WR 61xx on a local train at Marylebone, but I'm not sure if one ever worked the Met and GC.

Of course if you went forward a few years to the 90s.
A B1 or a K1 would be available.

Steam On The Met. bring it back.

6129 & 6166 were used into Marylebone when the line went Western Region for a short time in the 1950s
Currently I am building a model of Aylesbury station in 4mm scale P4 standards and building a Martin Finney 61XX forb these services.

Talking of the old Met., here's a link to some film taken on that line in 1910. A glimpse into a bygone era.

It ust have been taken either from the cab of an electric and, on the non-electrified sections, possibly from a flat wagon being propelled - must've been quite a hairy experience for the cameraman. And in those days of hand-cranked cameras, I bet his arm was hanging off.

In the '50s up to full electrifying, the loco's used for the Rickmansworth to Aylesbury run were mostly L1s. Sometimes we had an A5 but later on we had Fairburns No 42222 and 42225. We also had a Fowler 42328 this engine lacked the water reserve for longer journeys but I remember they had an exhaust injector which came in handy. We also had two C13s which were used on the push and pull from Chalfont and Latimer to Chesham. I believe in the early days the C13 were used on the local trains out of Marylebone but photos suggest that the loads were much lighter then.

I lived in Chesham during the War and can remember the C13's on the P&P to Chalfont. I also remember that there were some through workings with A5s right into Chesham, especially during the peak times.

Later in the 50s when I visited Chesham, it was almost invariably an L1 which took over at Rickmansworth, and pretty slick was the handling! I remember the odd LMR 2-6-4T but not that many.
