GCR 'Barnum' Carriages

Post by 65447 »

Does anyone have any information, or know of any sources, that list the specific carriages that were transferred to the ex-GE section? One at least was included in a regular Waveney Valley line set in the 1950s, and another was in the Thetford area?

TIA

A similar discussion is ongoing on the GERS E-Group. If we come to any conclusions I'll post here.

If you come to any conclusions on the GERS e-Group then I'll already know - it was because of the discussion on there (and your question of me) that I posted the above query here.

Hello. I have just purchased an album of photographs which includes what I believe to be three Barnums on GE territory. They are E5696E noted as a dining car (but looks more like a brake open to me) at Thetford on 09.05.53 and E5710E noted as being at Harlow 20.06.56.

Both these are H. C. Casserley views, 78755 & 89142 being noted respectively. 89143 is an interior view of E5710E

A third, unattributed, photograph said be be E5155E (number lined through with S underneath - scrapped?) is noted as being at Stratford 25.03.56. It is another brake open

Hi 60022Mallard,

Apologies 65447 for not making it clear. It was an old postcard album full of individual prints of LNER predecessors' carriage stock. It is not a publication.

Regards.

Hi again 60022Mallard,
