ECML Old Film Extracts

Post by StevieG »

A couple of links to http://www.britishpathe.com from within http://www.signalbox.org/forum :

A B&W (silent), apparently official, - Highlighting the new 1950s Potters Bar station and power signal box :

http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=65813

(The footage of the SB is about half way in).

And :

http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=510

(16 minutes of assorted film out-takes; certainly not all railway though. Haven't watched it right through yet, but the opening colour scenes are good for GN/LNER 'spot the location' fans.)

...... better concentrate hard ( ) for the railway parts of the latter. One or two of them that I've seen are not much than a blink's length!

Have watched the latter right through now :
All colour, also silent, all from, apparently, three films of 1962; the running order contains two or more sets of outtakes of each subject, interspersed. [ The original films concern;- student pram relay racing [includes a nice green Duple-bodied coach ('Bella-vega style?) ], atomic power stations (interiors, exteriors of Bradwell, and apparently Dungeness under construction), and the railway content.]
The railway shots include (some in more than one set of the outtakes) ; -
- scenes at KX Top Shed (includes Dwight D Eisenhower, Royal Lancer, possibly 60800 departing, and 60070 + crew),
- Deltic crew attending engine room equipment,
- Deltics (D 9012? & D9020) leaving/at(+crew) KX No.10 on 1A30,
- in-cab views while running, of driver, -
- and various forward views of the line from the cab, running at/through various locations stretching from Belle Isle to at least the approach to P'boro.
