Lancashire Derbyshire and East Coast Railway

Hey,
wow, its been a long time since ive been here....due to a mass load of rubbish a wont go into. but yea, last time i was on here i was doing some research into the Lancashire Derbyshire and East Coast Railway. well ive gone away and ive come back with less knowledge on the line than what i left with. This time around im going to stick everything i find out in a powerpoint (that way i should.....Should remember that infomation hahaha).

Now the Infomation i am looking for is a bit mixed through the sections on the LNER forums. I would like to find out anything from anyone about:
-The History of the Lancashire Derbyshire and East Coast Railway
-what Locomotives ran on the Lancashire Derbyshire and East Coast Railway
-Any Maps, Pictures, drawings or any other images (Inparticular the Chesterfield to Arkwright town Section of the line and Mines)
-Model LNER Shunters Availiable that would fit this section of the Lancashire Derbyshire and East Coast Railway
-Rolling stock that ran on the Lancashire Derbyshire and East Coast Railway
-Rolling stock avaliable that would fit
-Places worth modeling that fit the area (Not the Crooked Spire) eg, AirFields ECT.
Anything else that you find out about the Lancashire Derbyshire and East Coast Railway that might or will help me out.

The Period i am modeling is1930-1940's and the Area of the line i am modeling is the Chesterfield to Arkwright Town Section.

There was some discussion recently on modelling the LDECR, alas all talk of starting from scratch (with the exception of a single Horsebox design.) Stock and so on is at least well covered by scale drawings.

Further to Will's post, I'm not sure that all LDEC 1930s modelling has to be from scratch, though a lot of adaptation, ingenuity, and lucky finds amongst "used itmes" or long-stored unbuilt kits may be needed.

It is something that could be put together into an article for the Constituent Companies section, but a Powerpoint would not be the ideal medium!

Thanks for the Book and page references guys. there extremly appriciated.
I have come up with quite alot of infomation about signel boxes, stations, A couple of Shunters, and a few other things. I think puttingit all into a article would be a good idea to be honest Richard. The chances are however is that it wont be upto a standard i would be proud of considering i cant spell what so ever (Dyslexic), but il give it a good go and give you all something to read on those nights sat infront of your railways shunting your coal wagons back and forth (Thats what i do....my main Model Railway is still being set up so i have made a small shunting yard and i sit there reading the "Hornby Magazine" while shunting with my Hornby BR Black 0-4-0 "Smokey Joe" model. but now i am back to the old tintanet and the books...

Any information will be appriciated!

i am strugling to find anything or little on the locomotive's they used on the railway. so i was just wondering if anyone got any idea on the loco's they used on the LD&EC?
A the moment ive found out that they used GER Class L77 ( LNER Class N7)and the LD&EC class A (LNER Class N6) .
but i would be very greatfull if anyone could give me a few hints on what they ran along the line

I've had a quick look through some of my books, and not come up with much of use. The RCTS books will have some, but it will be scattered about.

It really depends what date and which part of the line you are looking at.

The period i am looking to model is 1930 - 1940 but im willing to stretch a few years in either direction to include a locomotive or other feature on the line.

Yes - the LDECR didn't have many locos to start with. That is probably all the LNER inherited.

Kits should be able to extend what is available. This might seem intimidating, but start on something simple like a wagon, or a modification to an RTR loco.

The was also a LDEC bult 0-4-4T class G3 which lasted until 1934, though I think all had been moved away by 1930.
In addition the following GC classes were allocated to Langwith or Tuxford J11, N4, N5, Q4, 04. There may also have a passenger class. A5s were allocated in the 50s but I can't see just what they replaced.

I have been looking into a few loco's ready to run and Kits. While i havent been too lucky with kits, i have found a few Ready to run Models mainly from bachmann.

Model 1- Bachmann LNER K3 1935 Doncaster Green 4200 Gall Tender
Model 2- Bachmann LNER V2 4771 'Green Arrow' Doncaster Green (If i used the Loco i would probibly remove the Name Plates and change the running number)
Model 3- Bachmann LNER Class B1 1189 'Sir William Gray' Apple Green (Thats is if the loco fits the railway, and if it doesnt, once again name plates would be removed and Running number changed)
Model 4- Bachmann (again)BR J39 64897 BR Black Early Emblem 4200 Gal Tender (This Locomotive would be sent off to The Model Center http://www.tmc-direct.com to have the Numbers Changed,the LNER Logo Put on the tender and possibly a repaint...but i may leave the repaint and have the train in wartime unlined black.)
Model 5- Hornby LNER J83 9819 ( Im not that sure about this little shunter but i do need one)

Well, im sure most of those Locomotives shouldnt be there. can someone correct me if im wrong and i would also like you to send me any link to for ready to run or kit websites.
