4-Char'r Train Headcodes;-General, and King's Cross-Specific

Post by StevieG »

[This is just to alert, in case there are any forum viewers who may never look at the 'Model Railways' forum, that there is currently a thread therein about the above topic, of possibly wider interest.
It is under the subject heading of "Diesel train codes KX".

( Or perhaps richard might want some or all of the relevant posts transferred to a more appropriate LNER Encyclopedia forum?) ]

The Chronicles of Napier site lists express headcodes in the Timetables section.

Yes, very useful and thanks, Robert - it should be remembered, however, that the GN still used four digits when referring to 'suburban' services, including the Cambridge Buffets, which were all generically 1B66 I seem to recall. I also remember the 0920 KX - Cambridge was 3030 down, if only because poor Trunky who worked with us could never pronounce it properly and this it was always 'pirty pirty down' to him. Did we take the mick - who us?
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!
