Which station, Which Loco?

Well I think this photo asks plenty of questions!
I'd normally say that the angle isn't great but I'd have loved to have been on that bridge to take it myself....

I think Its a V2 and if it is the one i think, the number is possibly 4795 built Darlo 12/37. The station suggests either former GCR or NBR.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Not a V2, an A3 looking at the tender and the outside steam pipe covers and footplating. The tender is one of the later patterns without coal rails, possibly a 1928 pattern corridor tender, which, if so, would date the shot in LNER days to C1928-37. Last number of loco 5?? Can anyone enhance it? Location- guess - possibly somewhere on the GN or perhaps Scotland ?

jwealleans: If 2595 is likely loco?, then 'Trigo' carried a high sided non-corridor tender no.5476 - as in photo - from 2/1930 until 10/1940, which would help a little with a time frame. She was a Gateshead engine during this period.

Can't help re the station but definitely a left hand drive A3 with 2595 the most likely number after I sharpened it up a bit.

I can't help with anything to do with the loco but i'm pretty sure the station is St Neots..

Stand corrected should have noticed coal rails i will go with jwealans on the id perhaps r pike can confirm St Neots from his signal box drawings.

None of my box diagrams help with identifying this location. The splitting signal in the background was abolished, along with the crossover, much earlier than anything i have except on this plan of 1922..

The barge boards on your two shots above match the ones in the loco pic the only thing i cant get my head round is where is the overbridge. Is it a station footbridge?

The photo's are indeed taken from the station footbridge.

I'm pretty certain it's St Neots, too (NX in telegraphic code). The Up refuge siding to the right of the picture would hold 46 SLU (standard wagon lengths) as I can remember measuring it out once - happy days, if it wasn't raining or snowing....
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!
