A good (but incorrect) guess.
Location-wise (assuming 52044 is still on the K&WVR) you're in the right county, at any rate.
As a rather generous clue, the mystery locomotive never actually carried BR mixed traffic livery in service.
So - did anyone dare tell Stephenson, "It's not Rocket science"?

Yes, it's "Hardwicke", double heading with 4771 on the occasion of the Settle & Carlisle Centenary celebrations back in 1976.
