Blue ones or green ones? This might help you make up your mind!

No 7 looks and photographs fantastically in overcast conditions. Bright sunlight is not so kind to that shade of blue.

Snap taken at Goathland. Could almost be double track, except for the "facing crossover". Pity about the GWR liveried Mark 1s, the red and creams would have matched the BR blue really well.

Sadly Green Arrow had broken by the time I got up there, although I gather it did run once more before it was hauled away to mothballs...



I did manage to catch the J15 (my favourite loco) as well. It was nice to see it on my local railway - I used to live close to the North Norfolk and see it all the time, but these days it's quite a rarity.

Nice pictures, Jwealleans, I particularly like the superb shot of the three A4s.
Wouldn't it be nice to see one of the three regain the pre-war skirts, so we would have one running in that condition. Of couse it might mean a change of identity to justify the double chimney - how about Peregrine - brilliant name for a loco.

If they can recreate the bathtub, I don't see why they can't put the skirts back. Of course, it wouldn't be me skinning my knuckles oiling round.

I cant wait for the day when we have the three Wordsell 0-6-0s in steam together. I wonder if it ever happened on the LNER a J15 meeting its Northern brothers J21 & J27 be better still if someone took a pic. I suppose best possibile chance of catching that happening would have been during the second world war.

Ive managed to see the last six Wordsell engines mentioned working, two of them in BR days. 65842 was easy and regular but i risked life and limb to see the J72 by hopping over the live rails to Heaton one Sunday.

Ah, yes, that would be Bittern masquerading as Silver Link. Before it was put back together the silver painted cab was left round the back of Ropley shed on the Mid Hants Railway looking folorn for quite a while.

....and here is Bittern "out in the sticks" and putting out a beautifully clean exhaust.

A good bit cleaner than when I saw it in the late fifties.

Just in case you think this topic is getting a bit too streaky.....

The Q6, also out in the sticks, with the exhaust whipping around in a very blustery wind.

A bit of digital hocus-pocus eliminated the bloke in the high-viz standing by the track level with the loco. On events such as this gala snaps are often spoilt by such people. Thank goodness for digital editing.

Chaz i think the loiterer adds character to the shot he is suitably attired sans hi viz and he looks railwayish.

Yes indeed. So often pictures taken at steam events are blighted by hordes of people but a bloke who is so obviously a railwayman (or at least dressed like one!) is fine.

Portait of the B1 and the chance for a close look at some teak. Tight composition avoids the hordes that surrounded me while I took the snap.
