However they do have the means to spend an estimated £200k to show you what a Bullied Pacific might have looked like had they not cut it up.

I think that the money could be better spent, what do you think. If you agree what would you like to see it spent on?

It could be argued that by spending that amount on sectioning a Bulleid Pacific the NRM turned it into a half-decent loco.

The £200k excludes the amount of money that was spent cutting the thing up in the first place, it is to be spent on some light show that will create the iullusion of the engine as it looked prior to surgery.

Is it true that the MN/WC/BoB re-build was a consequence of Sturmey-Archer suing BR for a breach of patented rights relating to their bike chain drive and gearing?

It all came out when they were scrapping the much travelled Leaders and it was found that the middle cab was fitted with pedals. No wonder the Fireman over-heated!

Do you think that a virtual reality Bullied Pacific is really worth £200k and if not what would you spend it on?

After he went to Ireland Mr Bulleid tried again with the Turf Burner, a smaller version of the Leaders designed to burn peat as fuel. CC1 I think it was called. Like the Leaders I don't think it ever entered service but I dimly remember seeing it dumped at Inchicore Works on my first visit to Ireland in 1965. Because peat as fuel has a much lower calorific value than coal it would have needed to burn quite a lot.

Technically the Leader could have beaten Mallard's terminal velocity of 126mph. But Bullied couldn't find a means of raising it high enough before dropping it. At 32ft per sec/per sec acceleration how how high would this have been. Bullied's scientific calcualtion was "Very"
