Re: 66731 Sheffield Wednesday
Eee, I wonder if these guys are even aware of 61661 - unless they have the old nameplate somewhere on the club premises. I don't suppose it will happen, but wouldn't it be great to see other members of the class given football club names as well. The missus approves, and suggests a Sheffield United one appears tout-de-suite.

Re: 66731 Sheffield Wednesday
Is the new Sheffield Wednesdays nameplate the same style as Sunderlands. See this thread.

P.S. bring back the Essex Regiment if the poster above wants his local derby i want mine. I hope we get the chance to see a photo of the two new B17s together.

Hi Silver Fox. Do you know if this is the actual original nameplate from the B17? I'm not quite convinced from the photo. I know some of the originals have found their way to the football clubs, Norwich City, for one example.

Re: 66726 Sheffield Wednesday
I make replicas of all the original b17's and now i have been asked to make them for the 66's aswell . I think it is great that all these b17 Names are coming back to life as now all kids are going to find out about the history of them too . As i supose not many kids will know about them .
Re: 66726 Sheffield Wednesday
Just as a matter of interest I saw both Sheffield Wednesday & Sheffield United Nameplates thrown about along
with other engine parts when I was at the 1952 Doncaster Plant Exhibition and we asked what would happen to them and we was told "Scrap" that's when we new we would not see these engines anymore - Gone.
If the originals are still about they must have been rescued at the eleventh hour!!

Was this really in 1952? neither loco had been rebuilt to B2 then and both survived, with nameplates until 1959.neaco wrote:Just as a matter of interest I saw both Sheffield Wednesday & Sheffield United Nameplates thrown about along

Re: 66726 Sheffield Wednesday
I think the Doncaster Plant Exhibition(centenary) was in 1953 not 1952. My father took me and my brother and I remember seeing 61604-Elveden-on the scrap line.I saw it the year before and upto the time of the centenary it was the only one I had seen so I was quite miffed to see it about to be cut up.
