Hi I have a Bachmann model of the V2 loco which is in BR lined black livery I would like to change it a UNlined model to suit the tender I have for this loco
I would like to find out from the members the running numbers (if any) of the unlined locos preferably ones which were Scottish based
Thanks in anticipation
Bruce

Re: Ex LNER V2 locos
You need to say what period you are modelling.
According to Yeadon the V2s were green until Nov 41, when, at the next repaint, they were plain black with "LNER" on the tender.
From July 1942 the tenders carried "NE" only.
After the war ended only 4854 was repainted apple green. BR painted the V2s lined black until 1956 when the livery changed to Brunswick green (Swindon khaki).
Have you considered lining the tender to match your loco?

Re: Ex LNER V2 locos
Hi thanks Chaz The period I'm modelling is the 60's re end of steam and (can I say it here?) green diesels Upon reflection and after looking at the V2 loco body it's going to be easier lining the tender which is relatively easy once you get the corners right
I just fancied an unlined loco just to be different Of course if there was an unlined V2 for this era I'm sure Bachmann would have produced one which would have reduced their costs in producing it However I'll renumber it to suit a Haymarket or St Margaret's one (cos I was born in Edinburgh)
thanks again

Re: Ex LNER V2 locos
Bruce,
the bad news is that I don't think that any of the V2s were still lined black in the sixties. When I was in short trousers I was a train-spotter, From 57 on, watching the ECML in Hertfordshire. I never saw a V2 in black. I did see the introduction of the Deltics, seeing every one over a short period (I never managed all the A4s!). Of course if you are happy to reproduce a typical New England V2 with thick layers of filth you won't be able to see what colour the engine is!
Of course you can run a black V2 on your railway with green diesels, why not? It's your railway!
But it will be an anachronism. I have a few of my own on my 7mm layout.
