The Wheel
Should I say Norwich Union Yorkshire Wheel
Sort of is Railway chat, as it's a wheel at the NRM!
My Pics from Satuday don't do this thing justice, so went down tonight, but had things to do, and it got dark, thought I couldn't get a photo....didn't think it would be alight!

3 years I believe.
And just can I say from the point of view of a York Resident, it is NOT a waste of the NRMs money...The NRM only provided the land, the council put it up, and the NRM gets extra visitors.
It was origonally to go down by the river oposite Yorks Cliffords Tower, but due to the flooding of this patch of land when the river comes up, locals complained of water displacment!

I have now riden the wheel. and it is an amazing sight from the top.
The only problem is the getting on it!
The museum opens at 10, and I was there just after 9, and got second to a family of 5, and by 9:30 there were about 30 sets of people queuing.
The best thing about this is, that the fist few people (not me) get straight on, then halfway round it stops and we got on, we went about 1/4 of the way up, and stopped, then went right round 3 times, then on the last go round we stopped right at the top!!!
And oh my god is 200ft a long way straight down!
If you pay £50 for the VIP capsule, it has a glass floor!

That's often how a traditional ferris wheel loads. The Texas Star loads in a similar manner - short turns with stops loading multiple 'baskets', followed by a quick spin.
The Texas Star is a permanent fixture but only runs during the State Fair.

Ooops!
Erm...you're a website man, and know the importance of putting the right files in the right folders!
try this one, they were in the wrong folder, and hadn't gone on one (Photos/Wheel/y-good/ when they should have been photos/pages/wheel/y-good/!)
http://www.4472.me.uk/photos/pages/whee ... /index.asp
The thing about getting on early is there isn't the flow of people, so we stopped once on the first go round, and once on the last go round, where as later when I got off, and there was a huge massive queue, and they were loading all 6 at once, you'd be stopping each 6 capsules.
