Father's Date

Post by 50C »

What a great day yesterday.60163 through Haslemere non-stop exactly on time at 14.05 on
a Father's day special heading back to London. The locals turned out in force and were treated to a spectacular sight.
This of course was then followed by the long awaited 'race to the north' on Top Gear in the evening .This made great entertainment even though Hammond seemed to be doing the trip on a wet day whereas May and Clarkson were enjoying a sunny day!!!

In the early BR days of the 1950's I saw all 49 A1's so without being too contentious I hope that at sometime in the future Tornado has a spell in the BR green livery ,lion and wheel on the tender and a rim on the chimney just as I remembered them.My first sight of an A1 was 60146 in 1951 but that was the only blue one I saw.

I think you may get your wish. I read they intend to apply all of the liveries the A1s carried .
