Digital Freight Set - Bachmann

Post by rainchinchilla »

Bought this set yesterday and I can highly recommend it (53A Models.) I now have the basics to get my planned model layout of Hull docks circa 1955 -1965. Don't know whether Bachmann are worse or better than Hornby, but I love the detailing on the Class 25 diesel. Hope to keep you updated with progress

Surely a lot of it depends on the model and where it came from - some of Hornby's are pretty old, as are some of Bachmans! Both have purchased model tooling from elsewhere that go back to the 1970s if not earlier.

I have an old Lima class 33 diesel which I bought second hand back in the 1980s and which must be around 30-35 years old. It's not got much detail but it will haul a dozen coaches at quite a pace and has withstood being dropped a couple of times. Maintenance? Well, I've cleaned the wheels once or twice in the 27/8 years I've had it, that's it...
