Yeh I have to agree that there have been one or two good `uns and that I was probably a bit harsh and I was aware that Gresley was born in Stirling but as a group/nationality they come a very close second to the Irish. must be the Celtic origins!! The ones with any sense bailled out and came to New Zealand and settled in the South Island and called it Dunedin, the Edinburgh of the South.

I think you'll find that he was born in Edinburgh. See this biography.

Oddly enough, Gresley's assistant, Oliver Bullied, was born in NZ but came over here at an early age:

In my case, I have a good excuse - only just got up, guvnor. Quite how a website got it wrong, I cannot say. However, I think we can agree that we are talking about the same man :lol:

Just had a telephone call from Darren Gallagher Network Rail at Waverley confirming offending poster moved @ 11 10 May 7th 2009
