A4 Sea Eagle in Doncaster green

I saw a photo in a magazine or book, of an A4 in green. I am sure it was Sea Eagle, on a train on a left hand curve, it was an overhead shot from a road bridge or signal gantry.
The locomotive looked quite resplendent.
I can only assume it was post-war, and prior to the renaming to Walter K Wigham.
Does anyone else recall this photo?

I don't remember having seen such a picture but it could not have been post-war. A picture of 4487 Sea Eagle in LNER green would be pretty rare. RCTS Part 2A narrows down the possible dates. It was green when new in 1937 but in less than one year it went into blue livery, Black during wartime then back into blue post-war on renaming.

It would be a rare shot. If it carried LNER Green it must have been for a very short time. I have a photo in my possession of 4487 Sea Eagle on September 10th 1938 heading north at Manors with the down Flying Scotsman......and it is painted in garter blue. Photo is a W.B. Greensfield shot.

That may well be the photo I remember. Does it match my recollection of being on a left hand curve?

I would like to get an A4 model custom painted in that colour.
Were there very few painted in that colour in LNER days?

On another note - I notice quite a few OO models seem to magnify the boiler bands so they protrude rather distractingly. Am I right in assuming they did not protrude particularly on the real machine?

And also, did anyone ever produce a reasonable A4 model in metal (not white metal) or brass?

Sorry. The photo was taken from the north end of the up platform, and the station was on a straight stretch of track.

You are right in assuming the boiler bands did not protude very much.

I also have a very nice photo of 4493 Woodcock taken at Newcastle Central on 2nd April 1938 with the loco in fully lined LNER green (wheels and cab front too).

In the present climate . yes, a tad expensive, couple of years ago Wrenn locomotives were bringing barmy prices and modelfair seem to be expecting it to continue, having said that they seem to sell their stock easily enough.

Sea Eagle in LNER green.
I am currently painting an old Dublo loco, which has had valances added, as Sea Eagle. The version I am doing has the smoke box in black right back to the 1st boiler band.
I have side & 3/4 views from ground level but need further assistance.
Questions...
Was the cab roof completely black or was it black only as far as the rain strips? i.e. Showing a bit of green from the rain strips to the cab edge.
Did the white/black boiler bands go right to the edge of the vertical valances?
The paint I am using has been supplied by the company who provided the paint for Tornado. They were able to supply an aerosol in that colour.
Any assistance?
