SEF N5

Post by jwealleans »

South Eastern Finecast are advertising a kit for the N5 in the current Model Rail (130). Based on the rest of the range I imagine it's whitemetal with brass chassis (the example in the advertisement has the body in primer but the chassis is clearly brass). £78.95.

A useful little engine for the South Yorkshire/Lincs modeller! The version offered is actually a flush-sided tank, just like the old Millholme kit was. This alas only respresents about 5 engines from the whole class, (I can’t comment about how other variations in the class such as brakes, safety valves etc are catered for in the kit) but I understand an etched brass ‘rivetted’ side tank overlay is soon to be released in a further kit so one can make a model of a representative type of the loco. Drawings and historical notes for this engine were published in Railway Modeller November 1970
