Good morning all
I read smewhere that an Aspinall Highflyer Atlantic was stabled at Hull to work the morning express to Manchester. Would the coaching stock be LNER or LYR (LMS).
Any ideas?

I don't know specifically, Malcolm, but the other intercompany workings I know about usually had a set from each which alternated.

What era are you looking at?
Rob Carroll has some Grouping era CWN, including a 1935 LNER Cheshire Lines. This shows two circuits Hull-Liverpool-Manchester-Harwich (Stable for next day) Harwich-Manchester-Liverpool-Hull, then a Hull-Liverpool out and back.
He also has some early 50's items in his NER collection and those only show Hull-Liverpool; no Manchesters.

Liverpool, Manchester and Hull workings are a complicated topic. WTTR has already commented on the wanderings of the Harwich set.
They did not work with alternate sets like the Liverpool to Newcastle trains.
I suggest that this is because there were various routes they could take. I wonder if the high flyer would use the L&Y route via the Calder Valley, that had a LMS set in 1932.
I am particularly interested in the Hull area, but photos of the trans-Pennine trains are not easy to find before WWII. Eric Treacy and Kenneth Field did a much better job into the 1950s.

Thanks for the replies, which have got me thinking!
I have a copy of the 1922 Bradshaw and cannot find for certain which is the route for the Hull- Manchester Train.
I'm guessing by saying that it did travel via the Calder Valley.

In the May 1934 Bradshaw, the 9.15am departure from Hull, went via Goole, Wakefield and Todmorden to Manchester Victoria, and then on to Liverpool Exchange, LMS stock.
There was also a 9.0am departure via Leeds, Huddersfield, Manchester Exchange and Liverpool Lime St, that train used LNER stock in 1932.
